The Plainpalais Performance Route
For the Swiss Performance Art Awards
The performance route starts at Uni Mail (meeting at the entrance Blvd. du Pont-d’Arve 40), beginning with a by appointment only performance.
To finish off this year’s “infiltrations,” .perf is offering a prologue to the Swiss Performance Art Awards, being held this year in Geneva. Six performances will take place around Plainpalais in various art spaces and passageways, making their mark on the pedestrians flowing through these public spaces.
The performances come to life through several individuals interacting simultaneously to create an (often cerebral) image on an urban scale. Notions of identity and community are woven into the performance motives. Let yourself become completely immersed in a huge echo chamber and witness slogans spreading as you journey down the paths from one piece to another.

Halle Nord (North Hall)
UNTITLED PERFORMANCE
JocJonJosch (Joschi Herczeg, Joc Marchington, Jonathan Brantschen) (GB / CH)
This performance embraces the notions of collective work, the individual at the heart of a group or community, success and failure, efficiency and wasted time. This collaborative effort sometimes goes round in circles as forces pull it in all different directions. The image of the loop, the sisyphean task, recurs in the piece. The question of identity is examined in Untitled Performance, where a mass of people move in a circle, exploring the Halle Nord and its “permeability” as it becomes a public space. The movement is created according to a code generated by the behaviour and interaction of the participants. The individual becomes swept up in a complex group and a sort of collective algorithm materializes.
