I will be presenting a new durational performance installation LOST | FOUND at FORENSIC 2015 at UCLAN in Preston on Saturday, 18 April. LOST | FOUND explores the connection between individual identity and memory and what remains when those threads are broken. FORENSIC 2015 is part of DERELICT. DERELICT IS A SEASON OF PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE AND LIVE ART HOSTED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL LANCASHIRE (UCLAN). FORENSIC 2015

One of the tracks I have downloaded for the soundtrack for LOST | FOUND - my first performance work with a soundtrack - contains the following piece of spoken text (which is then repeated in several different languages). Bizarrely, it completely fits my ideas for the performance. It appears in track 6 (of 15) I'm not sure whose words they are. "Rudiment is an obsolete form of existence, a factor of a disciplined phenomenon that elapsed, for its functionality was no longer topical in changed life conditions. Rudiment does not directly interact with the present however but still exists in it. Memory of the past times stores all the actions connected to the process or phenomenon that ended up as a rudiment now." |
